Annales Botanici Fennici
Annales Botanici Fennici publishes research in systematics, evolution, phylogeography, taxonomy and nomenclature of plants and fungi. The journal also includes content regarding plant population biology and genetics, and plant ecology.
Scope

Annales Botanici Fennici is an established, international, peer-reviewed journal, open to all scientists, appearing in six-number yearly volumes (until 2002 quarterly). It was founded by Societas Biologica Fennica Vanamo in 1964 replacing its predecessor which had been published between 1923 and 1963. Between 1978 and 1994 it was published by the Finnish Botanical Publishing Board, and since 1994 by the Finnish Zoological and Botanical Publishing Board.

The journal publishes original, previously unpublished papers on:

    • systematics, evolution, phylogeography, taxonomy and nomenclature of plants and fungi,
    • plant population biology and genetics,
    • physiology and molecular biology of plants and fungi,
    • terrestrial and aquatic plant ecology,
    • phytogeography and paleoecology.

Purely descriptive studies (e.g. floristic, anatomical, syntaxonomical, cytotaxonomical, ontogenetic), floristic notes (incl. new records) and manuscripts on numerical taxonomy or cultivated plants as well as manuscripts of very restricted interest are not considered. We do not encourage submitting manuscripts containing only proposals for new combinations without compelling reasons.
