^**Tom Baugh is an ecologist who has worked with aquatic species from fishes in the springs and streams of North American deserts, to manatees among the seagrasses, saltmarshes, and mangroves of Florida's lagoons, to endangered plants in Southern Appalachian Mountain bogs. During the period reported on in this Steward's Circle Note, Tom was working at Bat Fork Bog Plant Conservation Preserve in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Tom has reported on his work at Bat Fork Bog in Natural Areas Journal and Restoration Ecology. He is also currently undertaking an ecological description of a thermal spring in northwestern Nevada.
^***Katherine K. Schlosser serves on the board of the North Carolina Plant Conservation Program, a regulatory agency within the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. She is also a Preserve Steward assisting with management and monitoring of endangered species in the Piedmont of North Carolina. Kathrine is an author and lecturer on topics relating to herbs and native plants. Serving on local, state, and national boards for plant related organizations, she has worked for the past 20 years to spread the word about imperiled plants and their unique habitats.
